Very pleasant room and overall atmosphere. No strong chemicals used for cleaning which is important to us. Great location to walk to most things in central Svolvaer. The breakfast and restaurant for dinner is very good. We received kind attention by Martina who we really appreciated!

Our stay at the Snowhotel was the highlight of our trip to Norway! The staff were all so welcoming and they really take customer service seriously, from the receptionists to the restaurant waiters, the mushers and the guides, they made us feel special. We stayed the first night in the snow hotel in the first room with the fireplace. We were given a tour of the facilities and an explanation on how to sleep on the ice beds in the sleeping bags. We were afraid we would be cold but the sleeping bags were actually quite warm and you also get woolen socks and balaclavas. We had quite a comfortable sleep and it was certainly a once in a lifetime experience to try! The snow hotel itself is a work of art, each room is unique and there is an ice bar as well which serves drinks in ice glasses. It's definitely worth a visit even if you don't spend the night there. On the second night we stayed in one of the Gamme cabins, which are very comfortable and have a huge glass window perfect to look out for the aurora. The breakfast buffet and set dinner were delicious, serving local dishes such as reindeer steak, arctic char and king crab salad. They also cater to dietary preferences if you inform them in advance. Lunch is available at the Gabba restaurant, the choices a bit limited, but we enjoyed the free-flowing hot berry juice there. There is also tea & coffee in the lounge available for guests throughout the day. For activities, we highly recommend the husky safari, snowmobile tour and the Sami meet-up - it's hard to pick our favorite as they were all incredible experiences. You can borrow thermal overalls and boots for these activities, as well as skis, sledges and snow shoes.

The restaurant wasn't open when we were there because there weren't enough people, but we actually loved being able to cook for ourselves. Overall it was a really unique and amazing stay. What a grand old hotel. It is stunningly beautiful, and perfectly located at one end of famous Sjøgata. My room looked out over the little hotel garden with beautiful lights decorating the trees, and the river just behind it. Very tranquil. My single room was reachable through a sort of rustic vestibule decorated with beautiful old furniture. There was a staircase down to the main restaurant, where soft piano music came up. Very nice, I liked to sit and listen. My room was actually 3 rooms, an antechamber, a main room with dresser and armchair, and the bedroom. I'm impressed. Bathroom was spaceous. The hotel offers multiple restaurants and bars, including a cocktail bar. Staff was very friendly, Breakfast was rich with everything from cereals to mini pancakes.

We got upgraded from a suite to a deluxe room and we scored! It was heavenly! Our bed looked out to the ocean and mountains. We wished we could have stayed a second night. Our best accommodation in Norway! I would go back in a heartbeat. Only problem is the cost of a deluxe room is prohibitive. The hotel saved us when it told us to leave our car the night before the ferry to Vesterlen. There just isn't enough space on the ferry for the volume of cars.
