As always when you stay at a Marriott brand you cannot be disappointed. The staff is very polite and smiling, the room are very well furnished and confortable.
Great location 10 minutes from the Blue lagoon. We stayed here on our first night in Iceland going straight from the airport to the Blue lagoon then checked in.
Not a lot here but there’s a pretty church here
Tip: don’t buy supplies in the airport shop - we stocked up & it cost us a fortune. There’s a Netto in Grindavík

Grindavik is a small, beautiful fishing village close to the Geldingadalur volcano (but not too close) and the Blue Lagoon. It has many excellent hiking opportunities and great restaurants. Grindavik is surrounded by a beautiful natural landscape. Whale-watching, fishing, mountaineering, very friendly people, safe environment, you name it, Grindavik has it all!

Great location for Meradalir.
Great location for Meradalir. Fabulous fish and chips at Papas - Grindavik is a fishing town, so all fish is fresh that morning. Lovely walking around the town. Very peaceful. Great for exploring south coast and peninsula. Only 25 mins from Keflavik.

We stopped for one night during our Iceland tour to visit the Blue Lagoon and Fagradalsfjall, the volcano that erupted in 2021 and is still smoldering several months later. Grindavik is a working fishing village with a few local restaurants, grocery store and pharmacy, so is a really good spot to stay for a day when touring Iceland. It is not touristy though so don’t expect lots of shops selling the usual.

This is a dock terminal terrible views, bad aspect for tourists, cabin super smaill no microwave, no waste basket in bathroom, nothing to sweep with, place is creepy, huge caping yard nezt to the property that makes it seem dangerous. Lonely area! For this price you can get a top notch place.

Grindavik is a lovely town with a huge fisherman history.
Grindavik is a lovely town with a huge fisherman history. It's super close to the Blue lagoon and volcano so, there are many options for hiking or relaxing. There's a grill place with a super nice man who told me a little about the history and life of Grindavik's people and he also sells awesome hotdogs. Wish I could've stayed longer but a huge storm came so I had to run away :)
I was charged nearly 50 USD for a breakfast, but they never made it for me. These people hate tourists and view us as scum that they can exploit. Really nasty spite ridden people that have a burning hatred for foreigners. Go to a proper hotel where you will be treated with respect. The owners will lie and say that none of this is true, but check out my other reviews. I have stayed in numerous hotels and most are excellent. Don't get involved with these people.
We were heading to the Blue Lagoon the next morning after our stay and this location in Grindavik was perfect, only 10 minutes away. It is a street over from the water and close to great restaurants too. The space is immaculate, brand new, beautifully decorated with gorgeous tile floors, counters and stovetop, a designer bathroom and amazing rain shower head, extremely comfortable bed that was sooo cozy, and all the amenities you could need.
We have a neutral rating due to not being able to stay here. There was an evacuation for grindavik which ultimately meant we had no accommodation. Both myself and booking.com have tried contacting the property for a refund however we are yet to get any response, it is understandable for the circumstances but would still appreciate being contacted back when possible
I feel like I could not have picked a better place to stay. the fridge was stocked with food to eat, plenty of coffee and soft drinks. The house was extremely clean and neat. There was also a swimming pool just down the road and if you mention you were staying a grindavik guesthouse you got in for free.
The food was very good - we had dinner at the restaurant and the buffet breakfast. We choose the hotel for its proximity to the airport and the Blue Lagoon. Overall, it was very comfortable but not pretentious. We also appreciated the wakeup call for the Northern Lights! Would stay here again.
I’ve travelled to 50 countries in total. Stayed in most 5 stars hotels and one seven star hotel. But this retreat, is just the best hotel/retreat on planet earth. the staff, food, facilities, our room, spa, and everything was just perfect
The cottage looks lovely, there's a small kitchen and a living room with a bed sofa. The beds were comfortable, the bathroom was clean and modern. Overall, we had a lovely stay in Grindavík and completely loved the design of this cottage.
The room was comfortable and customer service was excellent. The owner- Olaf, was very helpful and shared the history of the hotel. The next morning we had to leave early for our flight and the owner had set up a really nice breakfast.
great hosts-very responsive. fixed internet right away. has everything you need including washer dryer. close to airport and blue lagoon. owners have a wood working shop and studio on first floor-take a look. groceries across street.
Very nice place to stay when visiting Grindavík and the volcano. The staff was very friendly and helpful. She made us feel very welcome and at home. Definitely coming back again when I’m in Grindavík in the future
The space was comfortable and the host was gracious. You really need to have a car to stay here. The host family provided transportation which helped, but distances from the blue lagoon were too far for walking.
I liked the location. Nice little town a little away from the main big city, close to many good hiking spots and near the blue lagoon. It has good restaurants nearby and the staff are very nice.
the luxurious access to the blue lagoon! we had it all to ourselves! instead of going to the public one. the room were specious and the shuttle service to retreat hotel was complementary.
Nice, clean and comfortable place in Grindavik. With fully equipped kitchen, bath, fast wifi etc, Good location. Would be my first choice when I go back.
