Portorož is the most popular beach resort on Slovenia’s small but undulating coastline. It was first developed as a health resort and several spas remain. The largest is the Terme & Wellness LifeClass Portorož, offering treatments using local products such as salt pan mud, seawater and thermal mineral water.
The huge complex is surrounded by some of the 4 and 5-star hotels available on Booking.com. Nearby is the Hotel Kempinski Palace, a historic property built in 1910 as a retreat for Austro-Hungarian officials. Other Portorož accommodation options include guest houses with pools and beachfront apartments.
The beaches are of course why most people come. The main, sandy beach is awash with colourful parasols in summer, while offshore watersports include diving and water skiing. Boat trips from the marina sail along the coast and even to Venice and Trieste in Italy.
As the temperature cools down, the nightlife heats up as people start hitting the bars and clubs. Several casinos also provide another way to spend some time…and money, and there are also relaxed restaurants where you can enjoy the sunset.
Portorož Airport is just south of the city and in the opposite direction is Piran whose Venetian old town spread over a promontory provides a more cultural offering.
Really great and peacefull in May. People are great, service everywhere was great, food was delicious, drinks great. Prices were okay, expected for a place near the sea and with terme/wellness offer.
It really near other interesting places, like Piran, Izola, Trieste...I recommend visiting by car or renting one and touring around.

Lovely place for long weekend, great place for spring and autumn. We are visiting this place twice a year for very long time. Not the best place for summer vacation, but for long weekend it is one of the best places.

Very nice swimming pools with sea and termal water.
Our food was delicious, especially sea food. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms we stayed in were very neat and tidy.
Although there were not enough parking spaces, the staff tried very hard to provide us with payable parking.

A very bad experience, from everything that can be said about a hotel that does not respect itself.
We booked a Mosim room, paid in advance and received "another product",
Although there was a lack of reference, and the answer was
"Sorry. Although you did not receive the room you paid for and booked a month ago,
The hotel is full and you are welcome to stay in the room even though it is bad and not suitable for the reservation. Unprofessionalism, indifference and disdain even though they realized they were wrong,
And they didn't try to solve the problem they had. We paid full price, and we did not receive the product (a room that did not match our wishes and conditions) and we did not even receive a refund for the difference between the room we ordered and the room we received.

A beautiful resort- we went in September.
A beautiful resort- we went in September. An unknown gem to British tourists. I imagine too crowded in main summer months. The area is stunning- short bus ride to Piran- which is beautiful and interesting. Swimming in the Adriatic is wonderful.
Room was spacious and modern and we realy loved the sea view! The location is also a big plus; 20 min beach walk to Piran and 20 min walk to the center of Portorož. Breakfast was ok, I was missing an omlette. Dinner was realy tasty, all the staff in the dining room was super friendly, but we wished there were more different dishes to choose from. The pool area is realy big and spacious, there are 4 pools and although the hotel was fully booked, pool area was not crowded.
We really liked our stay at Hotel Apollo and will definitely come back: We had valet parking in the garage for a reasonable price - which also included charging our e-car for free! The staff in all parts of the hotel (restaurant, bar, reception) was very helpful and kind. The dinner and breakfast buffet was really good and delicious (many options and freshly prepared food). We loved our room, which had a great view and a bathtub.
Portorož is an oyster of the Adriatic, and Villa Bellevue is a pearl: built like a small village in itself with uniquely individualized rooms, each with either it’s own balcony with a view or access to a communal terrace, built to give guests the best views of Portorož beach and harbor. The rooftop bar is huge, with both a larger open space for drinks and dance as well as more tucked away areas for those in search of privacy.
Nice looking, clean, and newly reconstructed apartment with really a great view of the sea bay. Everything was really perfect. Perfect location for us, as we prefere to not stay in the center. A 5-minute walk to the coast is not really a problem . We did a lot of nice walks to Portoroz and Piran as well from both sides of peninsula. The host lady was really great and we thank her very much for her incredible hospitality.
Dear Ana
The apartman is very clean and well-equipped.Have a beautiful view to the bay. The beach is near ( 3 min) the shop and the center is similar. The apartman prepaire tea, coffee, honey, sugar… like a five star hotel. You are very helpful when we are. We could contact you with any questions or if we need something, you helpd us directly. If we can we will return. Thank you everything.
Great place, especially for those, who have a dog. 2 minutes from the room a big, private park to walk the dog. It was great. Thank you. Great view from the room. Nice personal. Quiet place 5 minutes of walk from the shore. We visited several towns on Slovenian seaside and here in Portoroz was for us the best acces to the sea. Enough space to lay on the sand, grass or wooden wharf.
Beautiful hotel with pristine rooms and large private patio overlooking the Adriatic. The rooftop patio lounge was a lovely way to end the evening watching the sunset while enjoying drinks and a complimentary snack. The hilltop location provided for excellent views of the area. It was an easy walk to the beach—although a the return is a bit of a hill climb, it is worth it.
Hotel has extremely spacious rooms. Staff was very communicative and helpful in every situation. Location is just as you can wish to access any part of Portorož in couple of minutes by foot. And the view from the room and restaurant terrase is astonishing. Pool is large, not overcrowded and with sea water, very good in period when sea is not ideal for swimming.
The hostel is very close to the beach 50m maybe. The airconditioner worked well. The kitchenette is little but it was enough for 3. The young staff was very helpful. Do not wait a 5star hotel. It is a dormitory in the school time :). To have a place to sleep in a comfortable bed, close to the see, close to Portoroz, close to Piran it is PERFECT!
Beach is beautiful, and also is the view. Part of the beach for children (with sand) is excelent.
Food for breakfast and dinner are excelent.
Staff in restaurant was nice.
Bathroom in the room was as it was expected from a 5 star hotel.
Swimming pool is excelent - it is like from dreams with beautiful view on sea - from 10th or 11th floor.
Great accommodation with a perfect staff. Great pools also with slides for children. We were definitely not here for the last time. The beautiful coasts of Piran and Portoroz are very close to the hotel. Thank you Hotel Vile Park for great March family vacation!
Love this hotel!Always stay here when visiting Portoroź.Nice friendly staff and good breakfast, lots of choice.Lovely grounds with ample seating. The restaurant is good and reasonably priced and rooms are comfortable. Also like the safe secure car park.
Exquisite cuisine, huge clean bathroom, comfy bed, zen atmosphere in the lobby, all corridors of the Hotel and in the pools zone. The best cakes in the whole world you can taste in the Café Central which is within the Grand Hotel Portoroz.
Incredible views of the marina and hills of Portorož, easy walk to restaurants and beach, hot tub was wonderful, beautiful sunrises, well stocked kitchen, great water pressure - had everything we needed for a relaxing 2 day stay.
Terrace in the restaurant of the main hotel building (Hotel Metropol) with sea and city view. Exterior pool a bit far from hotel but very clean and on very good spot with sea view.
