The staff are friendly and helpful. What I liked are the large room, comfortable bed, quality linen, cleanliness, balcony and sea view (but I think not every room has view to the sea). Overall I am satisfied with my choice of accommodation. The hotel is located at a high point in the city, so it is worth arriving by car or finding out about public transport in advance. There isn't much dining options near the hotel, but you can buy a few things at the hotel. Breakfast is buffet style, I was satisfied with it.

Amazing. The decor and attention to detail is exemplary and puts many high rated hotels to shame. Our room was tastefully decorated and very quiet considering it faced a busy street. The bed was large, very comfortable and the room air conditioning was efficient and certainly welcome. We only stayed overnight but would love to stay here longer next time.

Setubal is not a big city but it is quite lively. There are plenty of restaurants and bars and a lot to explore. The tourist information is great for advice and bookings. It is recommended to visit the national park, the Troia peninsula is good for a stroll and dolphin watching is great.

There is a variety of activities here.
There is a variety of activities here. Parts of the city are in decline, common in many Portugal cities, but likewise there are other areas that are very nice. We are seniors, 67 yo, and we walked everywhere, even at night, to restaurants, and felt quite safe. The main area of Avenida Luiza Todi has many shops, cafes, bars and restaurants with a variety of cuisines. Nice grocery Pingo Doce right there. Very helpful Tourism Office. There are a couple Museums, working waterfront, and a linear park through the center of the city with cafes, sculptures, benches and fountains. Some wonderful plazas and squares.
A short drive to a beautiful beach, and a mountaintop National Park, with hiking and fantastic views. We drove over this and visited wineries to taste wine. A very nice area less hectic than some areas of Lisbon, just 1/2 hour away.
Setùbal has an absolutely amazing public market on the Avenida Luiza Todi. We were only here for three nights, but could have found more to do with a longer visit.

I stayed three nights and that was perfect length to do a trip outside and see the city and castle and try some fresh grilled fish on the restaurants. Go to Setubal to experience a little rough side of Portugal for budget travellers it is also less expensive than many other cities in Portugal. For golfers stay in Setubal, Troia Island were very sleepy after 18.00.

I must admit, I'm torn between sharing the secret of Setúbal's beauty and wanting to keep this gem all to myself. The stunning beaches, delectable food, breathtaking views, and warm-hearted locals are like treasures I'd like to hoard. However, if you decide to visit Setúbal, just savor the experience as I do every time I'm there, and you'll understand why I'm so reluctant to let go of this hidden paradise.

Check was really easy.
Check was really easy. Entrance hall is nice but room lacked some soul- no pictures or colour etc. Shower was tired but it was clean. Slightly out of town, and up a hill, we were fine as fit bit disabilities might struggle. It did the job as it was a 1 night stop off.

Anyone driving to Setubal needs to know that they have recently introduced a zonal parking system and there is little long stay parking available.
Apart from this we found Setubal to be a beautiful City with loads of lovely parks, riverside promenades, narrow streets with plenty of small squares and a surprising amount of street entertainment, including fire-eaters. On top of this the nearby Beaches are outstanding
First and foremost that it is family friendly. The hotel had a special corner set for kids with toys, the breakfast was really good. Diffferent options, all really tasty. The location is really good, close to restaurants and other facilities. the staff was really friendly and we are so grateful that they allowed us to do the check in three hours earlier than expected. We really recommend it, and we will definitely come back. Thanks a lot to all the staff of Hotel Laitau!
Lovely period building and the interior design is fantastic , We stayed in the Madeira room (one of the smaller rooms) it was beautifully decorated room with comfortable beds and the owners have paid real attention to detail . The Hotel is centrally located and is in easy walk of beaches, town centre and lots of restaurants . The owners and staff were helpfully and friendly . I simply love this hotel
We stayed here for a month and loved it. It’s a beautiful flat with a great design, very comfortable and right in the center of Setúbal. We had a cleaner coming every week which was great. It’s a perfect option if you’re looking to stay outside of Lisbon and closer to the beach. There’s a boat that can take you straight to Troia. The owner was very kind and super responsive (that’s a big plus).
I loved this hotel. It was easy to get to and central, and once I arrived there was a warm welcome from the manager who had stayed late to check me in and show me round - much appreciated. The top floor terrace was a great feature with a panoramic view of Setubal - very unusual. My room was clean and comfortable. I would recommend this hotel - excellent value for money and a real discovery!
The IBIS sign easily visible from the main road.
Arrived in heavy rain - the parking is near the front door, but there is also a useful portico to unload bags.
There is a useful snack bar with a good menu.
There is a computer work station.
Good reception staff, who know the area and were able to make local excellent recommendations and provide a street map!
A unique location in a historic manor house transformed into a luxury hotel, around vineyards supplying the harvest of grapes for Maria Jose de Fonesca, the oldest wine producer of the Setubal peninsula. Very professional hotel staff and an excellent hotel restaurant. There is a possibility of organizing relaxing horse riding in the field.
The place is absolutely stunning - bonus for having an AC. Close to the train station - perfect location close to numerous restaurants and extremely close to the ferry if you're thinking of heading into Trioa! In Setubal itself you have the option of walking to the beach or taking the bus - all very doable! Location is just amazing!
It's the best hotel in Portugal that we have stayed. It's true personal touch and full of history. The hotel gives us free upgrade and introduce us to the charming history of the family. The room are very quite and comfortable and food, to a level of fine dining. Definitely will come back in the future.
Claudio and his mother are sensationell hosts. We felt so much at home. We had the pool bungalow directely at the Pool which was great. We extremely recommend to take the breakfast prepared with love. The hotel is located on a hill outside Setúbal and is very cosy and quiet. We will be back some day.
The owner was very helpful and worked hard to get the room cleaned after previous guests had left it in a mess. We really liked the area and it was a good place to get the ferry to Lisbon from. The host was nice. It’s very basic not a place to stay in other than to sleep.
All the common areas look new and clean. The pool is great and they have few pickle ball courts.
The rooms are not so well maintained as the rest of the hotel, but it’s ok. complementary breakfast was very good. great variety of foods!
Very clean, comfortable and the staff is wonderful. Breakfasts were excellent and having the friendly hotel dog around made me me feel even more at home :) This was the best hotel stay in all my 3 weeks of travels throughout Portugal.
Everything was perfect! Great Hotel with great staff! Breakfast and dinner were really delicious!! It placed in very quite area. There lots of restaurants around! In Setubal is one of the greatest fish and seafood market!
Everything you need for a comfortable stay, very clean, safe, a shared kitchen with fridge, oven, washing machines and more. Very quiet location and just a few minutes from downtown Setúbal. Very easy to recommend.
The staff were friendly, the hotel is located in a quiet area in Azeitão a couple of minutes drive to Setúbal and Arrábida national park. Plenty of parking and you can walk in the hotel grounds.
Great breakfast. Great service from the staff. Great location and cheap parking nearby (although much have coins, credit card did not work). Cute hotel inside.
