The staff were very friendly and we have a 5 year old and they gave him a lot of time and attention asking him loads of questions and really made him part of the stay. We had asked for room close by and they actually arranged us to have adjoining rooms which was a great bonus. The breakfast the next morning was fabulous. It was such a pleasant surprise that we both said we are going to try and stay there again next year.

We loved the Church of St.
We loved the Church of St. Peter and Paul - they feature vivid and colourful stained glass windows made by Harry Clarke. We were in there for way longer than we anticipated, the art was so detailed and interesting. We ate at The Fatted Cow, which served excellant food in a professional and friendly atmosphere.The town itself was easy to get around with good transport links to other towns and cities. They canceled us advising that “they were closing because of rising heat costs”. We found out after arriving in Athlone that they were open but had decided to take a government funding deal to house refugees. I would have preferred the truth from them. Regardless, they did us a favor since the Sheraton was a much nicer hotel!

There are always plenty of spaces in the car park upon arrival. The checking in process is simple. The rooms are very spacious, clean, comfortable, and quiet. The large TV in each room also has loads of TV channels to view. The staff are very polite and courteous, and it definitely beats other 5 star hotels that I have stayed in. I will always stay here, whenever I am in Athlone.

Our room was beautiful and comfy, and breakfast was quite delicious. I found myself wishing we had more time here because of the excellent hosts! Neil gave many recommendations and fun history lessons of the extended area. The house was a short walk (maybe 1 km?) into the touristy part of Athlone. Would stay again!
