We were in Mestia at the end of the winter season (end of March). If you want to ski relaxed and without queues in the middle of the great scenery of the Caucasus: Tetnuldi (30 to 40 minutes by car from the hotel) is an absolute insider tip!!! A smaller ski area is only 5 minutes away. Modern chairlifts, slopes well prepared......breathtaking views. A real alternative for skiing to the crowded skiresorts in the Alps!

I was thinking Mestia was just gateway for Usyuguri Village, but the fact is not. It is nice and cozy town but very convenient as I could buy basic stuff at some shops and change money. Mestia is a very beuatiful and special place in Georgia. Here you can find wonderful mountains, interesting traditions and great food. To go here it is better to choose Summer or Winter season. Winter is good for skiing, Summer is good for trekking and hiking. When in Mestia do not miss the chance to go uphill to Ushguli. These villages are UNESCO heritage and it is necessary to see it at least once. However, be informed that the road to Ushguli is really dangerous because of the stone falls and it is better not to go there when there is a bad weather, especially during the rain.

It is clean but very cozy. The food is delicious and the best we ate the whole time we have been to Georgia. And the best asset of the hotel is the person who runs it! I am sure you will fall in love with her as much as we did. She is a wonderful and sweet Person and one of the reasons we stayed much longer than originally planned!

They let us park in their yard, which is awesome, because the guesthouse is on the top of a very (i mean, VERY) steep hill and there's very limited parking in the street. The guesthouse is near a trail to Mestia cross, which made it a perfect location for us as we took that hike.
