Second visit to Karlstad and both times have been too short. There is a lot to see, especially around the cultural area, including the Värmlands Museum and Sandgrund Lars Lerin. And pleasant strolls along the river and canals.

Karlstad is the biggest little city in Sweden and a joy to visit. What other city with <100,000 population even has its own opera house and cathedral? A small-big town with many cozy coffee places and great restaurants. The architecture is beautiful and the town is built in a comfortable way so you get to be in many parks and river along with shopping centers and places to eat. The City itself is cute. Loots of water.. Beautiful. Goos to powerwalk around the water area. And great restaurants, especially one called Electric something.. :) Ask around and people will know it. Its an old Electric store made to a beautiful restaurant with food that looks and tastes amazing!

Beautiful city with awesome nature, beaches, coffee stops, nice restaurants, especially Mariebergskogen with small animal and birds and museum, garden, playground in it with fancy train only for sightseeing was awesome. Friendly people and good communication. Luckily we were not sick because I am not looking forward to visit the hospital "centralsjukhuset Karlstad".

The room was a little small and as it come with half board, we had dinner at the hotel, which was average. Although I wasn't expecting a 5 star dinner at least it would have being good for the main course (it was a salad and 1 main) to be tasty. The parking wasn't located next to the hotel but 150 mts (not a deal breaker) however not an accurate description. For 1 night it is OK however wouldn't consider for longer stays.juan carlosPoland

That river, called Trysilelva in Norway where it has its source, is the longest in Scandinavia. Alongside the river runs the local cruising strip where the hillbillies creep in their American Classics on which they have worked for countless hours in the hope that the Karlstad beauties, and there are many such, may take a shine to them.

The breakfast was outstanding, the hotel is a charming mix of period detail and modern facilities, the staff were exceptionally helpful in every way.
